I was on vacation all last week so getting back to work on Monday was a little rough. Don't get me wrong, I love my job but sometimes doing it wears me out! I basically look at the work done by others and fingers crossed hope everything is correct. I hate when I find errors but it happens. This being said it's been a rough week so I'm really happy that tomorrow is my Friday on Thursday!!!

a whole new year....2016
I will admit last year I was horrible when it came to blogging...I will attempt to do better this year
so much going on, my little ball of black and white fur has blossomed from 3 to 13 pounds!
my boy Harry is pure delight!
I'm a year plus into my "new" job, it's so nice to be paid for what I do and to be appreciated.
2016 will be an interesting year...lots of challenges ahead....and I have resolved to not make any resolutions!

Gratitude
I work for a state agency doing “case” work and “cases” get
read by a senior worker; not all cases but a random draw. I have always learned
a great deal from these “readings”; especially when I was a new worker. I found
it no different than when I was doing quarterly reports for the FCC and our
director of compliance would look them over before they were submitted. If she
found something she didn’t quite like she’d correct every instance so there
would be no mistaking what she meant. Granted it was annoying but it insured
that every instance would be corrected. Back to case readings, when we combined
offices due to the closing of “service centers” to save the state money and
annoying the clients we had new senior workers reading our cases. There was one
who changed her mind from case to case and week to week on what she considered
an error, if one week I put for example the sky was blue she’d want a
correction to the sky was aqua, the next week I’d make sure the sky was aqua
and she’d want it blue. I could never win, I’d eventually gotten my fill of
this pettiness and had it out with her. Over the years our roles have changed a
bit and she no longer “reads” my case work and I like to think we have become
friends. About 2 years ago she received a devastating medical diagnosis but she
still is a pit bull when it comes to reading cases! As with a state agency
there is always change and next week we are moving offices and it appears that
she will occupy my current space, she was concerned about the temperature and I
called her in to “feel” what the room was like with the A/C running. I don’t
remember how it came up but I said something about thinking about her disease
as a blessing, she smiled and said yes, I have to have an attitude of
gratitude.Wow, I thought, she has changed and so have I. It's hard to be grateful of difficult times; I have realized that over the past year and I'm glad I'm not alone!
For all the tears and smiles, I am so grateful for this
woman who has at time made my life at work miserable. She has softened a tiny
bit and has become more humane plus she has a cat, so she can’t be all bad. I
love how bits of gratitude find their way to be seen and remembered.

first Friday, day 4 of 365
another uneventful yet frustating day at work, and yes, I smiled and kept my positive attitude, I was helpful and kind, I only vented in the safety of a supervisors office!

on a roll, day 3 of 365
I left work feeling angry and frustrated; nothing new but I've been attempting to cultivate a better attitude, to send out positive-ness, you know the whole send out what you want to get back. I sat in my car and pulled out my Kindle and found the free downloaded copy of the Bible. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go, if I had one of my "book" copies I do the old random page thing and find my answer. Since that was not possible I did the next best thing I clicked on the "View Popular Highlights", the first verse I read was "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13, I "turned" the page and saw, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him. Proverbs 3:5. Put my day into a new perspective, I drove home with a much lighter heart.

Lunch time on a cold hump day!
I woke up late, thank goodness I brought lunch yesterday that I didn't get to eat! Beef tips and noodles were the perfect lunchtime comfort food!
I'm current with all my casework, that is until someone calls or emails me!!
Been daydreaming and listening to my IPOD; seat dancing too!!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my sisters of my heart! I truly have wonderful friends!

January 3rd
First day back to work after a 4-day weekend really really sucks!! Ok, to be fair it was a quick day, it really did fly by but it still had it's moments. I got asked some really stupid questions and I sat at my desk basically yelling at people who weren't there! Yeah, silly I know but it makes me feel better! I'm ready for a new challenge and afraid I'm not up to it. Nothing knew!
I've started working on me, getting in shape, eating better...
I want my dreams, my dream come true...

yes, it happened again
i haven't blogged since July...i could blame it on work; that is when things got a bit crazy...new things to learn, teaching others how do to my old job, people retiring-some wanting to others not so much.
much has happened and i'll attempt to catch up and expound on my views and life...lol, if only for myself!

change...
Change, I hate change…and no I don’t mean change as in dimes, nickels and pennies.
I mean as in things not staying the same. Yes, I know nothing stays the same but for the most part my life has consistency, I can count on certain things, you know, the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, my four legged children waking me up no matter what day of the week it is or whether or not I have that particular day off.
I use to know that I had no matter what at least one day a week I’d hit my leg on my work desk, I may not have liked it but it was a constant, well, no more, as of yesterday my desk is gone, tomorrow I will have “new” furniture and I’m not happy. This is a change I do not under any circumstance like. I work because I have to not because I like what I’m doing, ok, not quite true, I do get a certain enjoyment out of helping people, which is essentially what my job entails and I will admit I am good at my job. I entered this department when workers were properly trained which leads to another change I didn’t like but again had no choice in the matter. All for the sake of saving money, changes were made, make the jobs quicker but not necessarily more efficient which when I think about it is the reason I have to have new furniture. I work for the state in which I reside, in an effort for the state to save money, note I said for the state to save money, they want workers to work from home. Yeah, sounds good until you realize that your own expenses will rise as the state lowers theirs. Just the thought of bringing my work home almost makes the idea of new office furniture palatable. Ok, but I still hate change…more I this later
update: 11/14-new furniture arrived yesterday at 2:30, I was the first to lose my old desk and the last to get the "new" desk...I miss looking out my window but I'm getting settled...sort of

wandering
I can’t concentrate, this is nothing new. I freely admit I have the brain of a wanderer, I think it’s my Hungarian roots, there must be some gypsy in that branch of my family tree.
There are moments in my day when I stare out my office window and the view isn’t that spectacular, it’s a fenced in retention pond behind a shopping center that I liked better before they cut down all the plant growth on the fence, I miss the white morning glories that wove their way about the chain linked enclosure. I even stare at the wall in front of me; still hanging is a chain of paper balloons in primary colors that I refused to take down after my birthday last February. I also have a few b& w photos I’ve taken from the internet that make me smile and conjure wonderful daydreams!
Don’t get me wrong, I do get the tasks of my job completed, my monthly statistics are awesome or so my supervisor tells me! (she’d never lie to me!!) I do this job because somebody has to and it pays my mortgage, one day I’ll open my stained glass studio, give classes and create the pieces in my brain, patterns that will challenge and defy convention. I’ll gain more inspiration from the changing of the seasons and the smell of the nearby mountain air.
But for now, I’ll sit here and stare out my office window…
